Fuel filter gets hot to the touch (Good or Bad)
I'm needing to know if it is normal for a fuel filter to get hot. I had to put a fuel filter on my car yesterday and when I went to hold it to unscrew the fuel line from the filter it was on the warm side, I had to grab a shop rag so I could get the line loose from the filter. So is it normal for them to get this way or is there another problem that is causing it to get warm like maybe an issue with the fuel pump or maybe something else. Even if I just go around the corner to due something small it get hot pretty fast. Today I took the highway to work and I checked it when I got to work and man it may have burnt my hand if I had left in on there. So is it normal or not for this to happen.

I looked at that idea to but the fuel filter it behind the passenger side rear tire and the exhaust is on the other side so there it nothing that would create heat on that one side that I have been able to find.

I don't have a fuel pressure gauge but I went ahead and set up an appointment to have that done on it. Also is it dangerous to drive it like that or not with the fuel filter getting hot.

make sure they put a delphi or delco pump in it. if i was going to have it done by someone i would take it to them and have them install it
probably not that dangerous unless you have a leak, liquid gas damn near impossible to ignite. and under pressure its going to be liquid. problems come when you have a leak the gas shoots out and turns to vapor and if it hits something hot it can ignite

I went to amazon and found the Delphi fuel pump for my car for 200$. 70 dollars cheaper then if I would have bought an Airtex or Precision brand fuel pump. They are 270 dollars. So I will buy it threw amazon.
