Default ABS light on.

Got a new surprise today.

How to I find out what is causing my ABS light to be on? I don't have any scanners that read OBDI, and neither do the local auto parts places apparently. Advance, Autozone, and O'Reilly'* all told me to just go to a mechanic. I'd rather not pay $100 service charge just to get a code read.

So...now what?

Common causes, etc?

Also, this was supposed to go in the Oldsmobile section. Whoops, my bad.

No worries David, I moved this to the Oldsmobile section for you.
Wiring at the Hubs comes to mind, but I will let our Gearheads or ASE members comment further regarding your ABS light issue.

We rather not play guessing games as to what any light could mean. Thus why we always say, get it scanned.

Call around to your local shops and ask them what it costs to pull ABS codes and that'* it. $100 is extreme. We charge $99.50 at our heavy duty truck shop. Only high end car shops charge that much.
