'98 Olds Silhouette, weird ignition related issue
Ok, it runs until warm, then dies and won't restart....and there is no spark?
If you have spark, spray carb cleaner into the intake and see if it runs as long as you spray......

Update: PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
So, after everything else that made any sense failed to solve the problem, I started snooping around further. I decided to take a look at the computer itself to see if there were any connection issues there. I didn't find any, but I found immediately that when I moved the computer with the engine running, it would always die. So I started looking carefully at the harness, and quickly found my problem - the main harness was sagging down just enough to make contact with one of the cooling fans, and it had worn through five of the wires in the harness!


I jumped for joy at this discovery, as I believed that I had finally found the REAL problem! And I was not disappointed - after repairing these five wires and inspecting carefully to be sure no others were damaged, I once again erased the codes, fired it up and my ignition advance reading was back to normal, no more 1374 code and life was good! I ended up putting about 70 miles on it today, a mix of city and freeway, some bumpy roads, several stops and restarts, all in heat hovering around 100°, and all was well. So finally, relief!
Thanks for your help on this.. kind of hard to predict this outcome, but I definitely learned a lot about this van and its igniton system and such along the way! I'm going to be going over the whole thing carefully looking for any further signs of impending trouble.

Well, the first thing a Tech should do, before all diagnostics, is a visual inspection.....can save a lot of diagnostic time.....
Unfortunately, sometimes you immediately see it, and sometimes you don't.....but you finally saw the the problem....good for you!
