Default '95 Eighty-Eight Trunk not latching.

I'm having a problem with my trunk lid not latching shut. The latch itself isn't seized or stuck in any way. When trying the latch with a screwdriver to see if I could manually latch it, the hook moves, but it won't lock in place, it just pops back open. I've tried pressing the trunk latch button a few times, trying the trunk release on my remote, and when doing these, I can hear the noise of a motor trying to open the trunk.

I'm hoping one of you know the answer to my problem, and it'* an easy fix.

If you need any other info, just let me know. Thanks ahead of time for any info you can provide.

Pretty sure it just latches when you close it. I just bought it yesterday, so I'm not aware of any pull-down motor.

Worst case scenario, you can always get a used one in there. The non pulldown models very rarely have issues (like, I don't remember hearing of one).

Unless the car is loaded to the gills, I doubt it has the pulldown feature. Now that I think about it, I only remember seeing it on C-Bodies and Caddy.
