Default 88 Olds Cutlass Ciera Wagon V6

We recently started having issues with our Olds quitting. Sometimes there is a stammer and then a few minutes later it dies. It will usually restart within a minute or so. The car has 73K on it and was bought from the original owner. It is in great shape, but cannot get a handle on what causes this or where to look. Someone told us that GM had issues with the overdrive going on transmissions during this time period and that the stalling was a sign of that. New fuel filter and no codes showed when checked at a repair station. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i had one of those for a while, it was the brougham model with all the goodies. so if its the same it was a 3800. if it restarts fairly quickly then its probably not the things attached to the engine. i would check the fuel pressure see if your pump is going out or sometimes the connectors or ground start to get corroded and the pump wont be putting out enough pressure.
