Default 1999 Olds 88 - P0108

My friends olds 88 recently threw out a p0108 diagnostics code. From what I understand its the MAP sensor code. She told me that the motor isn't running rough, so i wasn't too alarmed. However I'd like to take care of this before it becomes a major problem.

From what I've read online you can try cleaning out the throttle body to see if that'* what is causing the engine code. I've relayed this info already but I need some more expertise. I believe it'* running the 3800 V6, for all you pontiac and chevy guys running the same motor. Any suggestions/ info/ experiences with this problem would be appreciated

Thanks,
Evan

Well your typical causes of this code are Bad MAP sensor
Leak in vacuum supply line to MAP sensor,Engine vacuum leak,Short on signal wire to PCM,Short on reference voltage wire from PCM,Open in ground circuit to MAP,Worn engine causing low vacuum so in a nutshell Map sensor is going to be in the intake manifold, up top, passenger side. IIRC, it'* the only sensor on the plastic intake.and the real only possible VAC leak it could have is a leaky o-ring.So if that o ring isnt leaking and you have all voltage the MAP sensor is junk

Alright.. The next step I was going to take was to replace the MAP sensor (it'* only $45 anyways) just in case. Thanks Dakota i'll keep updated on this thread incase anything else occurs or more suggestions come up.

If your friend has not bought the MAP sensor yet check RockAuto, they have the AC Delco MAP sensor for 26.79, so about 33.00 total shipped, a 12.00 savings.

ACDELCO Part # 213796 -- replaces 935940
