As of anyone being in that magical 18-24 age group, we always seem to get quite the rip off on insurance.

Within 18 months (basic liability - 3 pay periods) I will have my mint 10 year old car (100K) paid off.

My record?
I have one ticket for speeding, (uh 7.4L truck + 16 years old = lethal combination). Then only one "following too close" because this 90yr old woman thought a small animal ran across a 6 lane road in town and wanted to try her ABS and new tires, so yeah the second day I owned my second car, a rear ended grand am that was worth about 3500 bumper damage was on the record. This was all over 2 years ago and I have not been pulled over since.

I go thru USAA and for a few weeks before I bought my current car I tried to figure out what cars were a good deal that still had "some" power (to 60 in 7s or less). A 1994 SE was going to be around 530, SSEi was over 7 depending on vin. But a 94 olds 88 with the exact same body, motor and around 60lbs heavier is right at 450 per 6 months for the most basic insurance possible UNDER A PARENTS PLAN. Not bad but 75 bucks a month does put a dent in the expenses when you are trying to put yourself thru college.

So to end this self indulgent “it sucks being young” rant....

What company do you go thru?

So anyway I made a little poll here. I know it is probably pointless since we are really of all different ages and some of us have multiple cars but VOTE ANYWAY.

Its 25k per person bodily injury but no more than 50k per accident and 50k property damage. That is the lowest coverage I am comfortable carrying. You would be amazed at how many people carry the lower limits. They don't even realize what it means to their future should something happen.
