I was surprised to have my rates go up something like 30% when I moved into the city from the suburbs. I was also surprised by the level of increase when I got my current car.

Even so, it'* not too bad. I pay less now for high-limit liability, low-deductible collision, and low-deductible comprehensive than I did when I was 16 for just low-limit liability. Ah, the joys of growing older. And never having any at-fault accidents. And never getting any tickets (heck, I've never even been pulled over). *knocks on wood*

I pay 450 every 6 months on a 93 bonneville, full coverage and 500 deductible. My dad has been with the insurrance company now for over 25 years and I'm a full time student and barely put 10k a year on the car ( during high school it was easily 20k a year ) with no tickets and 2 accidents ( both not my fault, within 6 weeks of each other, bad month and a half ) and I go through a local company here, fulcher and ranker

My 91 with same as above except $0 comp ded & $250 collision runs me about $50 per month.
yea but a escalde can amount to 50g'* and thats not including injury'*
Its 25k per person bodily injury but no more than 50k per accident and 50k property damage. That is the lowest coverage I am comfortable carrying. You would be amazed at how many people carry the lower limits. They don't even realize what it means to their future should something happen.
IMO, your coverage is still very low. That would make me nervous to even pull out the driveway! I used to carry 100/300/300 on all our cars, but now I've uped it to 100/500/500 and carry a $1,000,000 umbrella policy. In the this climate of everyone wanting to sue each other to get rich quick I think it'* better to carry more. Especially since in the grand scheme of things, it'* cheap!

As far as comprehensive and collision goes..that'* a rip...as soon as the note is paid off I drop the comp and collision. If I got into an accident with our 99 the insurance company would most likely total it if the damages were more than $2,000 and then cut me a check for $4,500 (their book value). With the rates so high in Michigan, I could save that $4,500 over 3.5 years. AND reap the interest from it! In the end I'd still be ahead.

My wife and I have perfect driving records. Our 97 truck and 99 Bonnie are through Auto Owners and have liability only (limits as stated above) are $400 every six months. T/A is $166 for full coverage for 12 months since it'* a classic....pleasure use only (Hartford Conn. Insurance Company). Cavy is $720 every six months because I have to carry full coverage, but that'* through Progressive. Comp and collision are $500 deductible.

I'll have to look up what I got, but I do have full coverage, 500 deductible. No tickets, and no at-faults(even though I've been in two crashes) I only pay 664.XX a year.

I pay $50/year for fire/theft. The car can go anywhere in-state.. I think I am limited to only 1,000 miles/year. I'm keeping this insurance policy when I have my temp, too.. so I can be el-cheapo. It'll be 1200/year for the cheapest damn insurance I can get.. if I total the car, i'm fucked, if I hurt someone, i'm fucked.. basically I will be fucked in the *** 10 times over before I turn 18.

I recommend you at least carry liability. It'* inexpensive and can really cover your a$$ in the event you seriously injure or kill someone. If you injure or kill someone, it could live you in dire straights for the rest of your life.

Im a 20 year old male. I am the primary driver on my car, and i also carry my homeowners and one other car under my policy.

That being said, i pay $900 a year for liability only on my Bonneville. I have honestly not found anyone that will beat that. (im through AAA michigan now)

The 2000 stratus costs me 1600 a year with my wife as a primary driver (23 yr old female with a couple points)

so between a downpayment on the insurance for the year, and adding the condo insurance, i pay about 260 a month to AAA

I swore that I'd never use Gieco but when I save about $600 every 6 months then I had to switch. I have better coverage and less deductible than I did with Farm Bureau and I don't have to pay almost $1300 every 6 months for the Trans Am and the SSEI.

I think mine is going to amount to $800 every six months...even with various discounts and having a relatively big deductable. It'* not fun...
