since 3 days ago my laptop all of a sudden stopped reading memeory sticks but it reads that the memory card adapter is plugged in but it wont catch the memory card itself..
i tried switching adpaters and memory cards but its the same issue...

it will only recognize the memory card adapter. :?

This same thing happened to a computer at a customers house that ran vista. I had to copy the USB driver from the system directory from an XP machine and copy it to the System directory.
