Default Yet another 2002 SLE issue

I've noticed over the past 6 months when I shift out of park my car jerks hard like I'm parked on a hill, but not when it'* shifting gears automatically... I've had motor mounts replaced (front and rear mounts). I also noticed that if I shift as soon as I start my car a few hours later without letting the engine run for 20 seconds or so, it doesn't happen. She'* got 145k on her and just had a tranny fluid change. I know she'* do for a tune up because there'* hesitation like the mis-firing described elswhere on this site. Any advice?

Thanks a bunch!

Still a good idea to check the mounts to be sure. Also check the fluid, it might be a little low.

Ok... I checked the fluid and all is well there. I did the "rev-in-neutral" thing up to 1,500 rpm and the motor moves back, which is what I'm feeling, but it moves more when I shift from park than when I rev it. It doesn't seem like more than normal. How much movement is normal? I can't shake it by hand. I also want to mention that my car shutters at least once a week followed by the SES light and is hesitant to move from a stop or change gears when getting up to highway speeds. After a day or 2 the light turns off and the car drives fine, but no change to the jerking. I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm complaining, but I feel everyone here is much more helpful than any mechanic would ever be.

Thanks for the advice again. It'* really helpful in many ways.

Next time the SES light comes on, swing by an auto parts store like Autozone and have them scan for codes. The code will help us figure out what'* goofing up on your car.

Some motor movement is normal and can be pretty extreme. Like Dan said...check the mounts though. You might have one that needs to be replaced/repaired.

My car shifted very hard out of park in into reverse/drive. I put in a bottle of Stop Leak into my transmission from Autozone, and then another bottle when my transmission fluid got low again. I think I had leaks in my transmission, and that helped it greatly. Stopped the trans fluid guzzling too.
Why not try it, can't say it'll help you like it did me, but it'* only a few bucks for the bottles so you don't lose much if it doesn't help.

I think that wouldn't help after. Maybe get a fluid/filter change before and ask them to pour the bottle in, or leave enough room for you to pour a bottle in yourself, and then wait until you need to top it up and use another bottle. Just my thought. I didn't get a trans fluid change.

well, right on que the car felt like it was gonna stall and the light came back on... Stoped by autozone and their scanner was broken! this sux cuz the light will just turn off by tomorrow and there will be nothing to scan. I just had the fluid and filter changed along will the intake plenum gasget cuz i was leaking coolant. About 3 weeks ago so i would hate to have to do that all over again.

The code should be stored. If the idle got to low the code may only be a 0506, which is low idle speed.

If you changed the transmission fluid and filter 3 weeks ago then don't change it again if you want to use the bottles, there'* no need. BUt anywayslike Danthurs said, get the code checked out first, that should let you know what'* up. Sucks that it was broken when you stopped in.
