Hmm....its in my state.
That one does look to be in rough shape, if I had the cash I might pursue it. But it would need a new turbo off the bat, which might not even be easily available.
Ive also heard they have some running/ driving issues with the stock PCM, but that there are upgrades available.
They are cool cars though, I looked into them for a while because there was one I kept seeing for sale with low mileage for only 3-4k dollars.
Voted against selling my 7 year old car to buy a 17 year old car

so i guess any car that had over 1,000 made is a Common car huh
Sorry but i still think any car that had less then 10,000 EVER Made is rare...
there was only ever 7,000 of those TGP ever made... thats not a lot...
look on ebay, look on Auto trader... and compare to a Buick GN or a SSEi and see what the differences is..

uncommon... maybe. The exact numbers are unknown. The rare one is the McClaren STE, which was the 4 dr. The exact number produced isn't really know and there is a lot of speculation on the number, anywhere from 500/yr to the number you mentioned. The thing is, they still aren't really worth that much, and many of them have been driven hard. There is one in the junkyard up by you ryan, and there is also the one in the yard here that is now stripped.

Uncommon maybe, but rare idk.
These cars typically have failed abs systems that are expensive to repair. But there is an alternative to convert it.
And IIRC, there is an oiling problem with one of the cam lobes and it can tend to wear it down. I remember seeing how to modify an oil hardline to remidy this issue though.
If you get a chance check out kuntzie'* (sp?) on one of the previous sites. He'* going nuts with a stock block.
Uncommon or not, they are pretty cool cars.
Some other somewhat uncommon GMs are the awd 6000, Celebrity VR, and Achevia SCXs.

They made Turbo Grand Prixs???
FWIW the 2 doors aren't that rare. However, black is the rarer of the two, a lot more red ones were made than black. And they are kind of a neat car anyways. They also have a lot of little gadgets on them....in 1990 base sticker price on them was somewhere around $28k....you could've gotten a base corvette for that in '90.
The STE'* however, are much more rare. They were only made in '90 and only 1000 were made. Twice as many white STE'* were made as there were Maroon ones and those are the only two colors available.
Unfortunately the cars aren't worth much really. And there are too many problems with them that make them expensive to maintain... Plus if you buy one to make it driveable you really have to put a different chip in them, which I'm not sure what they go for now but the ones I have in mine were $300 each...
Now....you know whats rare......
