This exact problem would happen with my last K7 500 and 700mHz cpu'* also.

New vid card also, same problem.

It'* a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 64mb DDR

I'm stumped, too. The only thing I can think of is this prerelease version of WIN 2000 I'm running.

Yes, prerelease. I was told it wasn't beta, that it was the "programmers' version"
