So I head over to a friends house tonight because Wednesday nights is my game night. I get home a bit after 11. I'm pulling up and think, thanks hon, you could have left the outside light on for me. I pull up and park, then look over at the door. Why is the little light for the door bell not on. Then I look over, the area light for the parking lot is off. I then look further down, the house down the way is very dark. I walk in the house. There'* my wife sitting with a flashlight. Oh oh, what'* going on? We have no power. So I put my coat back on and walk down to the road. It'* dark as far as I can see. The power came back on at 11:38. About a hour it was down. Daughters all wigged out, the wife is upset, my son is sleeping in his bed.
Heh, at least it was only a short outage. I'm still scared every time the power goes out its going to be down for three days again. Every time it rains hard I hear a transformer blowing down the street and start praying. You would think they would get that fixed.
every year seems we get one or two outages that can go for 2 days to nearly a week. Usually happens in the winter time.Wood stove and fireplace keep things plenty warm while generator and battery packs keep some power going.
We used to get bad outages all the time. They put in some fancy $300k homes in a cul-de-sac on our block and redid everything to suit them, now outages last like an hour at most.

Same here in out in the sticks of PA. 5500 Watt Generator is always ready with plenty of gas and the wood furnace keeps us warm. Just another day in Purgatory.

We get periods of 2-3 days without power when heavy wet snows hit. Tree branches take alot of wired down. I have lived in other places where they keep them trimmed along the road. But here I guess they think of it as "job security".

Ya, our power comes from a town called Montrose. It'* only 16 miles by the crow fly, but it'* by way of forest and dirt roads to get here. Takes them awhile to get it all back up when they come down. I should have known things wouldn't work well when I noticed I'm the last house on my line. It ends here at the bottom of the hill to my lake.
