My dad just got hired at teh Chevrolet dealership here as a salesman and starts on the 25th. He got his employee reading material to study up on (all the product brochures) and has been diligently reading them. He has the same belief about making the right sale for the person, and not upselling them.

We sell the price of the car....we dont ask for more than sticker, but there are a few cars that demand sticker price....Honda Ridgelines and Odyssey'* are 2 examples...the Pilots dont get a whole lotta discounts, but if you look at kbb.com (which I always suggest customers do before they shop at all) it will tell you that sticker is what people buy them for. I have only seen 3 Odyssey'* since I have started and havent even gotten the chance to drive them myself...they are instantly p.d.i.'ed and sold (for sticker) within hours of arrival.
I will tell you that we do get a percentage of the gross profit. 30% for new cars and 25% for used....or a minumum of $100 if we didnt make any gross profit. Funny thing is right now (with GM employee pricing) I would only make a hundred bucks off selling a Denali for $48,000, but I have made more than 3 times that selling a used Civic LOL.
