Default Why is it green?

We filled up the whirlpool tub for the first time in our new house last night, and the water was kinda green like there was food coloring in it. We've found green flakes in all the faucet screens and cleaned them out a couple times and for the most part they have gone away, but this was the first time we've filled something with enough water for color to come appearant.

Is that normal for new copper plumbing or something we need to have our builder take care of?

Probably need to flush the lines. They didn't say anything about it in a final walkthrough?

Did you put the right chemicals in it? Sometimes algae will form.

Sounds like the piping sat somewhere for awhile... Not any thing you can do about it 'cept drink bottled water till it clears. And the flecks of metal you are finding are most liking from when they beburr each fitting before they solder. Although they took the lead out of potoble water solder long ago, there is still nasty stuff in the flux you really dont want to drink. Wow, hard to believe you are already in the house, seems like just yesterday when you posted the foundation pics.
