I have an alarm on my car too. Alarm/keyless entry/remote starter. I don't know how or why it didn't go off. There was blood on the hood of my car so maybe he did something to turn it off. Who knows.
I'm getting new glass put in today, and my back seat repaird this week. Monday the window will be tinted and who knows when I'll get a new stereo.
Atleast the guy unplugged my stereo insted of cutting all the wires.

It'* a great idea in theory, however, in MI rates are outrageous enough. In this incident, for example, the cost of him doing the repairs himself are most likely cheaper than what the premiums are likely to be for 6 months. Let'* say that he carries full coverage for 2 years, he'* paying more than 4 times the amount of the repair!!!! Auto insurance is becoming more and more expensive and to that end that'* why I only carry liability to keep 'em on the road. My 99 has had liability for 1.5 years. If I get in an accident, I eat the costs. In the end, still is cheaper than what I'd have wasted in premiums.

OK, time to get off the soap box!
Hrm...She....

For full coverage on the 94 bonnie with a 100 comp & 250 collision I pay $51 per month, on the 91 with a zero comp & 250 collision I pay $52 per month. I carry good limits and medical also so what I pay far outweighs the cost of repairs/windshields. The insurance company just paid $655 to replace the HUD windshield on the 94 and it cost us next to nothing.

That'* kinda my point though....

Rates are a lot less in a deslet area such as MS opposed to the metropolitan areas that a lot of members are from.

That is not correct. I pay more here than I did when I lived in Chicago. I thought I would be paying less but that isn't the case. MS has one of the highest rates compared to several other states due to uninsured motorists.

I got new glass installed today...then I went to the car wash to try and get that blood off my car. I guess I'll have to use a de-greaser or something cause it didn't come off. Then I also noticed that my lug nuts were loose. Guess that *** tried stealing my rims until he noticed the wheel locks. Ha.

I think I've decided to try and fix my back seat myself. Nothing is torn thank god, but the frame of the seat is bent. I'm sure you can imagine someone trying really hard to get into the trunk thru the backseat. If I can't bend it back, maybe my step dad can.
The only other thing damaged is that black trim piece on the door...on the outside edge...the shiny thing. The dealer calls it an applique. Are they hard to remove??? I'd rather save some money and do things myself that way I can get a new head unit quicker.

The guy bent the backseat to try to get into the trunk??? There is only like 4 bolts that need to be removed and the whole back seat comes out. Probably would take 1 minute longer, but it would get them in the trunk....stupid theives.

Anyways....that really sucks for you. That is one of the reasons why I keep as little as possible in my car at all times. If they want my factory cassette deck...they can have it. It would cost me more to fix a broken window than it would to replace all the stuff I have in my car. (other than like parts of the car that they could steal/destroy). I also try to do all I can to not attract attention to my car. Keep it looking stock, no stickers on the windows, light or no tint, etc....

yeah they did the same seat thing in my lumina also. but they actaully got it down...however to keep my subs from flying back in the trunk, i had a 2x4 holding them to the front of the trunk, and the thief couldnt push the sub box forward enough, but he did steal my cd player as yours.

i know how you feel, i actually cried. all i had was liability and i knew i was out all that money and work. i did fix my seat myself, but it was never perfect.

sorry dude, but you will be finding glass fragments for months.

Mean People Suck!

Nothing that can ease the bite, my friend. Have you considered getting a Rotty as a pet, and letting the car be his new home?

Around here, the police DO run serial numbers of cell phones, loose stereo equipment, guns and the like found on traffic arrests. I have helped inventory the impounds before and with equipment, you have to get the model number and serial number so it can be checked against the stolen goods database.

Everyone take the time NOW to write down your tag number, VIN and important serial and model numbers! Keep one copy at home and the other in your wallet or something thats usually with your person, like your phone case, changed purse, whatever you normally carry around. I have my vehicle license plate memorized for all sorts of reasons, could make the speedy difference if I was ever jacked.
