Default When life hands you a lemon . . . (56k free zone)

Its been a great day, and thats not sarcastic.
I was headed out to the junk yard being harassed by my mom the whole way "If its not an essential part why do you need to replace it?" My big point about replacing the grab handle was I didn't want a nice gaping hole in the headliner and since its my money and my car. . .
So I went out, found bird **** all over my hood which struck me as odd during the winter. Unplugged the engine block heater and come back to find it ain't bird ****. . . Some tard threw an egg at my car last night, and it froze.

So I went down to the police anex, filed a police report. Northridge is a bad place for this kind of vandalism. Went down to Van'* Automotive and found my savior, a 1992 Bonneville SE in green. It had been involved in a front end collision and all the good parts had been taken. It was sitting on cinderblocks and other garbage, interior covered in snow. But I got the EXACT part I needed.

Thanks Smellbird, you were right.
10 dolla. As compared to Pontiac'* $92, I DID get it for a song.
Went over to the mall becuase my $170 Nokia cell phone was freezing like an Apple computer. The minute I pulled into the mall power steering quit. So after getting screwed by Cellular One, again, I went over to Pontiac and a mechanic came out, took a look at it. Said the -15* weather we've been having is probably whats causing it and there may be air building up in the line. (I'm not totally buying it) So I will color it red to draw attention to it and not put ANOTHER post in the mechanical forum.
Finally went up to Chipotle, had a burrito, washed my car. And all was good.

Storytime'* over.

. . . You're in Michigan and you don't recognize the engine block heater cord? That thing is a miracle worker, -35* and the oil still flows like its 60*

Plug-in for the block heater (wish I had one).

Car looks awesome -love the red with machined face crosslaces.
Glad to see you got the grab handle/light assembly for a price that wasn't gang-rape.
I too have been having some interesting steering in my SSE, but it mainly does it right when I first start driving in the cold. If I let the car sit and idle for like 10 minutes so the underhood temp comes up above freezing the steering seems to return to normal. I suppose I should check my PS fluid too -haven't in 2 months.

Irony strikes again. . . the grab handle is for the wrong side of the car. Its pointless to go back. Their Bonneville'* grab handle on the other side was broken, exactly like my old one.

I'll see if the fixture can be switched I guess. . .

EDIT:
Take that Irony!!!

Pontiac melted down the plastic where the screw driver is, and there are two snaps on either side of the light that clip into the plastic on either side, so it was a lot easier to switch than I had expected. Now I just need a dremel to clear out the plastic hole and we're in business. I love it when **** works.

I knew what it was when I saw the picture.

Phish...engine block heaters aren't that common in Michigan. I can count on one hand how many I've spotted in MI.
