what was your first car when you were sixteen?
83 datsun 200SX. you didnt need a key to get in, because one of the quarter-windows behind the doors was plexi that was not attached and could just be pulled out. more than that, you didnt need a key in the ignition to start it. i have no idea why, but i didnt need to carry any car keys with me.

My "trainer" car was a '79 AMC Concord "Government Special" Wagon...had no rear seat, but the rear deck was extended to cover up the lack of a seat, so I called it my "5 door coupe". Totaled that and I got an '85 Shelby Charger...what a difference eh?
Didn't get my licence untill I was 21 but my first car was a "Notchback" 4 banger Mustang
That'* actually been my only RWD that i've owned and drove it through a winter no prob!!

My first car was a 1966 Dodge pickup truck with a 318 that my dad bought me for $100. I painted it with a roller. That vehicle needed tires, brakes, steering and suspension work, you name it. It had no business being on the road. I think my dad was trying to kill me. My buddies and I torched that vehicle in a field one night, just for kicks.
My second car was a 1966 Chrysler 300, also with a 318, that I bought for $300. It was in terrific shape, considering the price. Unfortunately, my older brother rear ended a van full of nuns in it. We disposed of that car in a demolition derby.
My first GM was a crappy old 1973 Firebird I bought with no engine for $50. A pal of mine and I stuffed a 455-SD in it that we bought for $100. It got about 5mpg, but damn was that car fast in a straight line! I sold it after a couple months to someone at my high school for $500, and he drove it straight into a tree a week later (RIP).
My son will be 16 in 4 years. I want him to live, and I want to be able to afford both college and insurance, so I anticipate that he will "inherit" my safe and well-maintained (and stripped of any and all performance mods it may then have
) 1998 LeSabre.

My first car at 17 was a 82 Pontiac Bonneville Model G. Dark Blue 3.8L 140,000 miles. Got it from my mom for $1.06 with a broken timing chain that ruined the engine. Rebuilt the engine and drove it another 40,000 and sold it for $600 bucks in '99. Loved that car
