A drive line brake is something you would never see on a North American production car.. Cost plays a huge factor. Anything can be done but the general American isnt interested in that kind of thing.
When I say cost i mean a boat load of money.. We looked at ading it to the truck and it was almost 10 grand by the time all the dev work was done.. Thats something best left for Monster Trucks lol\
I am pretty sure that the new Camaro will have that same exhaust set up the new Vette has and that in a way is an engine brake design.

The new Camaro needs a Z/28 package. Juice up that little 5.3L (327) (leave the big block for the SS model) and they'll have a sporty craft that will rev good and have a respectable amount of torque to get it off the line. A locking differential with traction control in your foot, mated to a close-ratio 6 speed transmission. And state of the art suspension. Cowl induction hood and rally stripes.
This is realistic and affordable. There'* lots of cool stuff that could be done that would easily price this car out of its intended market. It'* not meant to be a competitor to the Corvette either. The Vette is a sports car, the Camaro is a pony car, the Bonneville is a 4-door grampa car.
Just call me grampa.

I just hope it'* priced right, otherwise if it'* more than the mustang, it'll have the same sales problems again.

EDIT: OK, so I went back and actually read the thread and saw that this was already said...so sue me already...
But to continue on topic, the fact that the market is Pony Car enthusiasts (meaning, average Joe with beer pocketbook), GM must keep the base models simple and affordable. This will always mean that a base model will be a 6 cyl.
Likely also, is that the initial offerings will be somewhat limited at first, as car companies need to have something to offer as following year upgrades and enticements. I expect that Z28 and other hot models will be introduced incrementally in later model years. This is similar to most every other car offering out there, including the Mustang.
