Default What is this computer called?

I was someplace and this guy had this flat computer in his lap, it was like a giant PDA. It was all screen, and about 11 inches tall and 8 inches wide and maybe an inch thick. He was instant messaging someone on it, it was pretty awesome. The screen was beautiful.
What are these new computers called, who makes them, and what do they cost?

Are you talking about a tablet PC? If you wanna get one, check out the toshiba that converts to a laptop if wanted.

The one I saw was beautiful. The guy had a wireless connection and was IMing a friend, the screen was beautiful and it had character recognition. I drooled on it and shorted it out.

Yes, I guess it was, but I didn't realize there was a keyboard underneath it like that. I just thought it was the beautiful screen. Plus he was using it like you would an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper laid on his lap, instead of how you normally view a notebook screen. In other words, he had the screen rotated 90 degrees. It was very cool.

Yep that'* a tablet PC, not all have a keyboard and can convert to a laptop, but it'* a very good idea and i'm sure more will follow. If you wanna get one wait until they use Pentium M/Centrino'* in them. the screen is a magnetic sensitive touch screen LCD. Only the special pen that comes with it writes on the screen.
