Didn't know Canada was involved with 1812. Were we preoccupied with something else? The British, maybe?

At the time it was the French settlers (Canada) and the English Colonials (England) once that was lost, the English retreated to the US, and New York was born and the early Americans treated the Irish like bags of crap....and the story goes...

Why did the English retreat here? Weren't they opposing us, also? I just read a real brief summary about our naval victories against the British.

Its been a while since Grade 10 history, but the Colonials that were beaten went back to the US, but they also waged battles against their own coming in from England...time to dust of the history books I think
