Thanks for the nice comments everyone....
I do feel really great. That first pic may not look like i'm that heavy, but i was actually 126lbs overweight. I suffered from high blood pressure, borderline diabetic, high cholestral, cancer and heart disease runs in the family. The decision to have wls was not a mild one. I researched it for 6 months then went to my family doctor for a referal. It took me 11 months to get a consultation with the surgeon and then after a battery of tests had my surgery 8 months later. Not a decision i regret....
I would like to lose another 70 lbs that would put me at the right weight for my height. I enjoy getting out for walks and little hikes... but i love being able to work in the gardens around the house.
Well i'm off for my morning walk... You guys are the greatest....

Debbie

Looking great. My mother had the same surgery years and years ago. Theres a few problems here and there with this type of procedure, but I bet your not hungry because your stomach is now the size of a kiwi. LOL

My mother would only be able to eat half of sandwich and feel very full as if she ate a 3 course meal.

Congrats on your surgery and stay healthy!!

Even with the baggy clothes, it is very easy to see the vast difference. That'* awesome, and I applaud you for your courage to have that surgery. My uncle'* wife had that about a year ago and has lost a tremendous amount of weight. She looks fantastic.

Lookin good! To my doctor, I am considered obese. I am 5'9 and 235lbs. Same with me bandit, I've tried to lose weight, it just doesn't seem to go away. I think I may go for the stomach surgery so I will eat less.

J Wikoff Ya still wearing baggy clothes. Not ready to rush out and buy a new wardrobe till i've lost the majority of my weight. Woo Hoo! shopping trip to the US...

Tracy: My health issues are getting better everyday. I was on 3 blood pressure meds now i'm down to 1. The doc think i'll get off the last one by the time i reach my goal weight. I'm still going to the Chiropractor for my back and knees and i feel 100% better. I can get out and walk, climb stairs, do a little hiking, and finally get back on my bike. The hubby and i like to ride the Bruce Trail...

B94V688: @ 5'9 and 235lbs your BMI (body mass index) is only 34.7 although considered obese they won't do surgery on ppl with a BMI less than 40 unless the person has major undelying problems like diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and such.

Congrats Deb! Looking good!!

I wish I could lose some of the weight I'm carrying, but I guess I'm some kind of mutant or something.
I'm 6', 300lbs and yet I don't seem to have any of the health problems normally assocated with being that overweight. My bp is within normal, cholesterol is at a safe level, no hint of diabetes in spite of family history, no liver, kidney, stomach, etc. problems, nor hints of said problems looming on the horizon. No joint problems, other than some arthritis in my right knee from a childhood injury(doc says it'* un-related to my weight and shouldn't get any worse unless I pick up a lot more weight) Actually, my doctor told me, straight quote, "You're very healthy, for a fat-***." ( I like my doctor, he'* as much of an a$$hole as I am, and gets on people about being lazy when it comes to their health.)

I figure it'* got to do with the fact that I lead a pretty active lifestyle. I'm a flatbed driver so I bust my *** on a regular basis, and on weekends I do housework, car-work, junkyarding, shopping, yard-work at the parents place, or god-knows-what-else. I don't get much aerobic excercise, I guess, but I'm buying a bike after this month'* rent goes out, and from experience, I'll be riding a lot. I love getting out on the milder off-road trails around town. The only reason I don't have a bike right now is that mine was stolen a few years ago and I could never afford to get another one till now.

I would most likely be eligible... the fat is crushing my lungs and I cannot breathe when I run or walk too much. I need to lose weight but I can't. I do have alot fo family problems such as diabetes, heart problems. I would like to get this surgery so I can be skinnier. :(
