About an hour ago my cat spilled water on my new Dell. It immediatly went into power save mode. However, the computer was still fuctioning. Do you think that if I just let it dry it will be fine?

usually yes, as long as you unplugged the power in time.

I figure if you have shaken all the excess water off and turned it off, it should be ok. (assuming this is a laptop). Most modern day computers are built to withstand a one or two spills and drops without causing damage. Just be more careful with liquids by the PC

remove the keyboard and check for water on the moterhboard. flat head screwdriver to remove the power button bezel between the keyboard and the screen..it pops off, then remove the keyboard and check for water damage. what model is it?

It is a desktop. Dell Demension 8100. The water was knocked off the table onto the tower and I think it got it through the cracks. It went into power save mode but the hard drive was still running as was the fan.

I would power it down and crack it open and let it air dry.
