Yeah that is pretty scary...

This is why new pools do not have floor drains anymore. That was the explanation given to me by our local municipality and pool supplier/contractor when we had an inground pool installed.

New filters have a backwash/flush cycle, thereby eliminating the need for drains.

Sad story though.

here in quebec there a kid that got both legs cut off after being suck in a 6 inches pipe that pipie had no grill on . these places need to be check on more often

That'* probably what I saw. I remember seeing this on TV once. Scary sh*t for sure.
