Default Video Editing Software

What in your opinion is the best Video Editing Software?
I have heard Vegas Video, and Adobe Premier are good but has anyone had any experience with them? I need somthing that is somewhat easy to work w/ too. Because my mom is going to be trying to use it and she barley knows how to work a computer. But i can teach her if its not too dificult! Thanks a lot.
