some little kid threw the switch to the second rail, and that car tipped.

okay, here we go...

the switch was thrown causing the train to divert to the second rail. in the process, one of the axles came out of the truck there because of the forces involved, and there she went.

My guess was the conductor saw that amazing bonneville club sticker and wanted one for his train but in the process he leaned over and accidently hit a switch when he went to get a closer look at the sticker and ended up derailing the train.

perhaps the car locked up an axel, or threw a bearing, or something that prevented it from being pulled peacefully any longer.
