It is a very weird thing, only thing I can figure is that the transmission thinks the car is going faster than it really is, but nothing has changed :?

Only thing anybody has touched lately is an oil change, but I don't believe it would be related. Unless it is just to cold for it lately. But that makes no sense. The transmission is not hooked up to the radiator, just the cooler. It does make for an occaisional laggy 1-2 shift on a cold morning, but once it starts getting warmed up, it gets better. I am usually pretty easy on it first thing because it is very tempermental when it is cold.

But even when it is in the middle of the day warmed up, it is still the same.

Don is wise in the ways of cars.. do a search on what he was saying. You may turn up some adjustments that can be done or can have done.

Hrm, actually it was mentioned that the valve body may be clogged or leaking. I think I am just going to leave it unless it gets worse. If I need to dig deeper into first, I can drop it down and hold it

I believe they had the FLC 3 speed. Used in like all tempo/topaz and escorts up until like 1994.

Don't ask how I know this.

To be honest I never paid attention to WOT shift points; that just seemd high when I'm used to 10-12mph normal shifts. If your looking to see if I've got that on a service cd - I won't be home until 8am tomorrow.

Meh, no hurry.

Normal shifts are 1-2 14-17mph and 2-3 24-27mph. If it is cold, then the latter. The warmer it is, the better it gets.
