Default Totaled the Bonneville

I missed a call from my dad. All i could hear on the voicemail was he was on his way to the hospital, the car was totalled, and a large suv t-boned him.

96 SSE - Silverish Tan....

The whole driver side is destroyed. He has neck pain and backpain.

A young kid in a pickup hit him, he is in the emergency room right now.

Pickup was airborn several feet in the air

Just heard from dad. He is still in the hospital. Having the back looked at right now. He is a bit sore but no broken bones. The driver side of the car was caved in severely.

Peso was in the car when the accident occoured, she was un-injured.

Here is the only photo I have of the car:

If he was in his toyota, the outcome may have been much different.

Another Bonneville gives its life for its occupant(*)!

Good to hear nobody was (seriously) hurt, canine or human.

He wants another bonneville already. If he gets a decent size insurance check from it, my 98 may have a new home.

He is out of the hospital and feeling better.

Summary of the accident.

An older man was turning into his driveway off the highway in his 07 Pathfinder, when a 16 year old kid driving an 08 Toyota Highlander rear ends the pathfinder causing it to role several times across the highway and hit my dads car head on as he tried to hit the ditch to avoid him. It would have been a total headon but my dad swerved at the last second so it hit the side. the pathfinder was destroyed, but the guy was ok. Apparently there was airbags everywhere you could barely see inside the truck. The older guy was fine. The kid also was fine and his highlander suffered minimal damage.

If anyone wants parts from the 96, PM me...Odds are it will not be parted out since it is non-supercharged, does not have AL7s, and the motor and trans have 170k on them.

Also, you have to pay to keep it in most cases. Mind me asking what insurance company he has?

From my experience, do some research about the value of that Bonneville in your area. My insurance tried to rip me off before I showed them a bunch of listings for similar Bonnevilles that were in similar condition to mine. They upped the check an extra $1200 after I was done with them. (I told them about the condition of the car and gave them pictures of before the accident for proof, then I told them and gave them receipts on recent maintenance like a new AC compressor and HVAC, and then the listing of cars that were priced higher than the amount they were giving me).

On the other hand, another insurance company I dealt with was entirely too generous and gave us more money than the car was worth.
