Its multifunctional based on the mood, tone and diction of what was written. A wink used as an emoticon at the end of a sentence can have several meanings as long as you get your point across in the words. The wink will reinforce it

See, in this case, what Bullet mentioned was right, "I know what I am talking about"

You get the idea.

this would be more effective with a poll, but i vote #2

Its just a wink, and unless it was in real life its only an emoticon.

and sadly there are other "flirty" emoticons...

I think that BOTH are right when used properly but I think I would vote for #2.

NOW on the other hand if it was between a man and a woman and they used emoticons like or even Then well uhh..... you get the point, LMFAO.

Ahh...a tricky question. I think around here it'* almost always meaning #2. I use it kinda as an inbetween #1 and #2. Usually, when I use it it'* just for friendly banter or friendly quips just to make sure everyone relizes I'm kidding. I guess, like said above, read what I type, then determine what the winky face means, k?

So you mean the whole time I've used the "wink" emoticon I've been flirting with guys too?! Oh great!

Actually I think that you just read way too much into the whole winky emoticon.
