Default took the plunge

Well as some of you know I have been with my GF for just about 4 yrs. We have had our ups and downs but she has been with me through 2 heart surgeries and several hospitalizations
including one week long one last year about this same time of year. Long story short after all the crap we have had to deal with I figure it was time to finally move to the next level. I got a call from my boss today and had to go in and finish some paper work and get my check stub. I got the stub and there was a bonus check in there so i stuck the money in the bank and went looking since I had been halfheartedly looking for the past 6 months or so. I stumbled on this for a price I couldn't say no to so I jumped on it especially since they were running a 12 months no interest deal if you put it on the credit card. I dont need another credit card but if I use it once then shred it later I see no harm in taking advantage of the deals they use to get new customers. Enough about the background onto the details, it is a .75 carat princess cut diamond with side facing diamond chips set in a 14 ct white gold band. Is it exactly what i wanted no but it is what i can afford without being shackled to payments like others i know that they over spent on. The plan is to hold onto it and hide it till the 7th of next month aka the day we " officially started dating back in 07. The good thing is that it falls on my day off so I can take her out for a nice night on the town and then figure out where and how to pop the question. i figure doing it that way will get me brownie points and also get the "romantic proposal" thing knocked out at the same time lol .

My not be a super high quality diamond but it pops and looks better then some of the smaller diamond that were in the same price range. worse case scenario we can get an upgraded rock later in life

Thx for all the well wishes and got a little update for you all I have decided to propose in the motel room. I got some of those personalized M&Ms with the words "Will U Marry Me" and then a pic of the ring on the others and all that in a dispenser which will be the diversion needed to get the ring out and ready when she reads the M&Ms

Congrats GOJO! I know you've been through the mill on many fronts, including romance. Hope and Pray the best for ya. Ring looks great and you did the right thing, 3/4 looks alot nicer than a 1\2, average people won't "critique" it with a jewelers eye. And in the end, it'* a sellers market. You just can't get your money back. Diamonds are not an investment. When you leave the shop it has depreciated more than when a Caddy tires roll off the sales lot.

That is the setup now to figure out how to give it to her in a "memorable" way and where are the only 2 things left to work out
