Arrow thinking of another fixer-uper

well, not sure if anybody will be able to give me any feedback but i am looking into the purchase of my grandma'* 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The car was bought new by my grandma, given to my uncle in 2002 who drove it and sold it to his neighbor about a year ago. Since then, its sat in the guy'* garage. Here'* some info on it:

*140 HP 3.1 MPFI engine
*4T60E Transaxle
*factory dual exhaust
*coupe
*bright white paint
*black cloth interior with semi-electronic climate controls
*"upgraded" factory 6 speaker Delco stereo
*130,XXX miles with bottom end of engine rebuilt at 120,XXX miles

Needs: brakes, good cleaning

Planning to offer: $800 since it sold for $1000 nearly 2 years ago.

seem a fair place to start? seem like a decent buy?

Yeah, go for it. As long as it doesn't have the DOHC 3.4 in it, you should be good to go.
The 3.1 like eating their Intake gaskets too, so check them out.

I had a 78 Cutlass and loved it. It was the first car I had with all the bells and whistles and some giddyup. Of course back then they still had a V-8. But for $800, if it all works and the engine'* sounding good, sounds like a nice D.D. and you help a family member get rid if something not in use.

Thumbs up

IIRC you have to jack the engine up to change the sparkplugs,my friend had one of the ragtop models and I remember when he tried to do a tuneup,it was funny as hell back then well for me at least..

Other than that it sounds like a decent deal.

Id get it... if nothing else you could always use it as a trade in on a bonnie later down the road hehe

as long as its in good condition, mechanical wise, it would be a good deal, get you around, help them out with getting rid of it, and its not too expensive

i am thinking about it. i'm reluctant to give up my alero for something 7 years older but at the same time, i'm confident i'd do better with money that way. i could buy it for 800 and sell the alero for $3200 to $3000 and have lots of money for college expenses.
