I say get either a golden retriever, or a siberian husky. They are both very good dogs.

We never had one issue with our Golden chewing on things she wasn't supposed to. I credit that to making sure she has TONS of toys. She has toys everywhere. One of her favorite things to do is to shred paper products. She loves Kleenex, toilet paper, gift wrapping, etc.

One of her other favorite things is to carry shoes. She has never chewed on one - just carries them around!!

Boxers and boxer-mixes are one of the easiest breeds to train. Very low-maintenance, short hair, easy to keep clean.

Many experts judge a dog'* intelligence by how they use their front paws to do things other dogs don't. Boxers obviously lead this by example.

Bo is my third boxer in a row. A couple dozen members here have met him.

Bo covers his ears with a seat when Bill starts the Zilla..

I had a German Shepherd when I was young, very friendly to everyone, great dog.

Next was a dalmation. Maybe more 'showy,' but still a great companion.

Currently have 2 black labs, one is a mix (below). Labs are always a winner.

Ewok...
BTW, Akitas and Huskies also aren't the greatest if you have kids. Very friendly, smart dogs, but high-energy, and when they get hyper, they tend to get snappish.

J. she'* pretty, what is she? Looks like a shepard of some sort?
