Default stupid Fords

Well, as many of you know, my uncle'* WRX is on it'* way out the door. He decided he wanted an old truck, so he bought a 1967 Ford shortbox from a friend of ours. It has a 240ci inline 6 cyl. We had to change the timing gear on it. Stupid fiber gears. We busted the fiber off and tried prying the metal off b/c the fiber was old and brittle. After about 5 hours we got it off after heating it up with an Oxy-Acetelyne torch. He'* going over tonight to button everything up and he'* supposed to bring it over here. I'll try and get pics up for y'all. I think you'll like it, I do, and I despise Fords!

He could upgrade to a newer 300CI L6. Those were pretty stout little motors.

Bypass the 302 and stick with either the 300-I6 or the 351-v8. The 300 has more torque than the 302 to move that heavy truck and the 351 will have more aftermarket upgrades available.

Definitely in agreement here. The 300ci I6 is simply the best truck motor Ford ever built. It ain't fast, it revs like a diesel, and it shakes like crazy above 4000RPM(no balancer on an unbalanced crank), but if you drive it like a diesel(shift at 3K-4k RPM) it can haul anything. Also the aftermarket is offering more and more aftermarket for these motors now, including everything from harmonic balancers to turbo kits for balanced motors. If you go with the later EFI version, I believe someone is now offering chips for the computer.
And the 351 is also a good choice, especially since there is some aftermarket out there aimed more at the truck side of the market.
