Default Stop sign ticket.

This might be a long shot, but does anybody know a deffinate way to get out of a ticket for running through a stop sign? My court date is this Wednesday and I can't afford to have a ticket for a stop sign from earlier this month and my accident from the other day show up on my insurance. I had another ticket for faulty equiptment (tires) on my car from my accident on Friday but that'* cleared up (I put new tires on that day).

What happened with the stop sign thing was that I left the dealership on the road that it'* on and blew right threw the sign at the end of the block and made my right hand turn. A county sheriff was headed toward the way I was turning and pulled me over. I told him I didn't know there was a stop sign :? cuz I didn't know what else to say. I thought the road was more like an access road owned by the car dealership cuz only the two dealerships are on it so I've always disregarded the stop signs. After I told the cop where I worked, his almost exact words were Plead not guilty and show up to court and talk to the prosecutor and they'll probably lessen the charge....but what do I tell the prosecutor?

I'm really hating life lately. I finally get my insurance at a really low rate and now an F'ed up accident situation and tickets to deal with. Seems like when moneys tight life makes it tighter on ya

plead not guilty, and tell them you felt the car dip then come back up (that'* how you know you made a complete stop) and started going about half a second later.

If you went through the sign...you went through. I don't really appreciate people who do it anyways, I was nearly broadsided by some *** in an F250 who ran TWO stop signs and then rounded a 180 blind corner and nearly hit me. That is only one incident out of many I encounter daily with idiotic people who roll through or run stop signs completely.

STOP, and stop COMPLETELY.

I realize what you're saying about those benign stop signs you see on un populated ways such as those small dealer access roads...but I guess if it'll get yah a ticket, chances are, don't do it.

I guess if you'd like, plead not guilty with the basis of the sign not being placed well enough?

Even if there weren't a sign there, you'd have gotten a ticket. Any time you're entering a roadway from a driveway/private road/parking lot/alley, you're required to stop, sign or no sign.

Since the cop told you to go and plead, though, give it a shot. Worst that could happen is you pay the ticket.

Fines for moving violations get split with New York State. A lot of towns are more than happy to reduce it to a parking ticket so they can keep the entire fine. I (with the help of my children) know that North Tonawanda , Tonawanda & Wheatfield will do this. I guess none of us have been on the Island.

Call the prosecuter'* office & see if you can come in early & talk to someone. Just ask them if it can be reduced so your insurance doesn't go up. If you have a bad driving record then get an attorney.

Around where I live at if you even show up to court to contest a ticket for anything they are usually pre-occupied with bigger items that day and will just lower it to probably something with no points but you still have to pay the fine.

If you blew it, you blew it. There is no 'not guilty'. If you didn't stop, and there was a sign there, regardless of your excuse, you're guilty.

Show up and plead guilty or no contest, and state your case that you stated above. They'll probably reduce the fine.
