Default Speed Limits?

Here in California we basically have 3 Highway Speed limits.

55MPH
65MPH
and 70MPH

Most of the freeway systems in the cities I'm near are 65MPH, the only time it'* lower is like downtown Los Angeles. We even have a surface street in my city that is 60MPH.

I have been in other states where I have seen 75MPH. But to hear people talk here, I only hear of 55MPH. So tell me what are the speed limits in your states and loacalities, are there any higher than 75MPH? I may want to take a vacation if there is. Not to leave the CA group out what are the speed limits you all have.

55 and 65 are the major ones I travel on. Never seen anything above 65, though I know 70+ does exist. I wish we could have some of those in MA.

Round here, we got 65 MPH all over the place. once you get 5 miles out of town to the north or west, it opens up to 75 MPH, to the east, 65 MPH, and to the south, 70 MPH <for now, rumor has it its gonna drop to 65 MPH>

New Mexico was one of the states I did see 75MPH. I noticed that when I was in Las Vegas, NM visiting my brother. It was pretty nice there was a stretch from the I10 to Las Vegas and 90+ was easy, no cops.

It'* as low as 30km/h (18.6mph) in some densely populated residential school zones

40km/h otherwise on residential (25mph)

50km/h on residential throughfare or main road school zone, or in town where there are no signs posted (31mph)

60km/h on main city roads (37mph)

70km/h on more open city roads (usually six lane roads on the outskirts of town) (43mph)

80km/h on two-lane highways far out of town, or in non-town areas where there are no signs posted (50mph)

90km/h on the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway, two smaller(ish) freeways in the Toronto area that are pretty densely traveled and have tighter lanes and shoulders. This may be the limit in other areas, but I dunno about them... 56mph

100km/h on all 400 series highways. (62mph)

I would think that the motor state would have the faster speeds.

Yes.

In Michigan, the speed limits are only suggestions.
