I'm dying here!

All all of the above are good but the best advice I can give is to simply put up with it the best you can. Drink a lot of fluids. It'* one of those things you just have to endure for a few days. Nothing will completely get rid of it.

I just had that last week. Cough drops helped, but it took a good 4 days to go away. I feel for you, i was miserable.

A bole of chicken soup and a darvocet (pain pill) before bed and you will fell better in the morning.
This isn't surprising at all but prescription medications are prescription for a reason. It'* not a good idea to suggest this to others. This is a narcotic agent which, depending on several other factors can have potentially dangerous effects. Without knowing about concurrent medications and a thorough medical history, suggesting this is simply dangerous! If you choose to do this yourself, fine. Don't make irresponsible recommendations to those who may not know this is just plain foolish. By the way, bole is spelled bowl.

Several people have posted good responses. Be aware that you shouldn't let this go for too long. I understand seeing a physician may not be an option, but if it doesn't clear in a relatively short time it can be the sign of something more serious. If you have white or coloured spots in the back of your throat this requires a visit to a doctor. There are several other potentially serious conditions so if you have any associated swelling, you need to be seen. A great resource for you is your local pharmacist. Likely they will know of any bugs going around and can make some helpful recommendations.

My sons throat was so sore and he even lost his voice. He took 1 tablespoon of the "remedy" and he got his voice back and felt much better. I put the recipe in PDad'* thread about him being sick. Now is the time to make it in preparation of winter.

1 fifth of whiskey
1 jar of honey
5 or 6 boxes Smith Bros cherry cough drops.

Put into jar and put into the back of the cabinet to let ferment so its ready for winter. I swear by it
