So this was posted on the Cadillac CTS Forum. Apparently the guy broke up with his G/F and this was her revenge on him...

Some kind of acid was poured onto the hood with $10,000 in damage!

OMG. Wow.

I hope they find her completely responsible and she pays dearly, personally I'd want to see her charged with criminal property damage and get sued by him. You'd have to be a terrible person to do something like that to someone'* car.

All body panels that came in contact with the Acid have to be replaced. Apparently the acid also damaged the metal underneath in a way that new primer/paint would just peal off again. from what I can see this includes part of the roof, the hood, driver'* fender, and possibly the doors... It isn't cheap. Have you priced replacement parts on a Caddy? It hurts, trust me!

I have no idea. The insurance company is saying they'll pay $10,000 for the damages. From what I can find on GMPD.

Hood $726.41
Grill $506.31
Front bumper cover $549.42
Fender: $361.78
Door Shell: $758.55
Roof Shell: $689.89

Total $3,590. Definitely not $10,000. Unless there'* more damage I'm not seeing. A paint job would at most cost $4,000 I would think. That brings it up to nearly $8,000. The 10,000 doesn't seem too far off now, does it?

This is the thread.

$3590 is parts. Now add labor and paint.

factor in paint and labor, and all those little things that can go wrong and you might be well up around 10k. Damn, where did she get access to that kind of acid? That looks absolutely horrible!
