I've got this Canon Powershot A530 5m.that does a pretty good job of what I use it for and it takes Videos(got to read the book about that Black &White videos I've posted,just settings from the quick look I did today).

Here'* the Pentax ZX-50 35 SLR I was using till I got the Canon.

That makes sense. Kind of like the digital zoom. Could be useful but many tradeoffs.

Thats quite a change, when I first went digital it was with a 5MP and the difference in image quality was a bitter pill but the convenience and cost balanced things out. The newer megazooms have closed the gap quite a bit in terms of image quality and zoom especially with the improved image stabilization. Still not SLR quality but close enough for now. Of course being able to see your image immediately has changed everything for the better.

At the moment I have a Nikon Coolpix S550 that looks exactly like this

Wasn't exactly what I wanted at the time but I got it for $150 bucks cheaper than normal price because it was the last one on display & they wanted to get rid of it & I desperately needed a camera for a trip that was coming up the next week. In a year I'll prob replace it, seems like I get a new camera every 2ish years lol
