Just placed an order for one of these. Should be a nice little upgrade from my Pantech Impact.

I am needing some advice on protection. I am looking for a case capable of surviving just about anything, up to, and possibly including nuclear holocaust. Any suggestions? My dad has an Otterbox for his iPhone, and it looks like it is right up my alley, but I am looking at the options for this phone, and wonder if it will be as strong for this phone.

Love my Motorola Backflip. Yeah, its kinda slow, but it does what I need it to do. Android is awesome. When I get the chance to upgrade, I'm going for the Motorola Atrix. That thing is nuts. Dual NVDIA 1 GHZ processors? Android 2.2 with Adobe flash? External HDMI? Heck yeah! Plus I love Motorolas "Motoblur" features, since I've had mine for a year and a half. Works awesome.
We don't even have 3G here, so I don't notice how slow the Backflip is, until I connect at work on 3G, or on someones WiFi like I did at the shop yesterday.
The Atrix will kick my netbooks butt on specs. If the notebook dock wasn't so freaking expensive, I'd jump on it sooner.

I've got a droid and it'* been a trooper. Gone commando the entire time, no screen protectors or anything. It'* been dropped and mishandled, the whole 9 yards. Not a scratch on the screen, and the other nicks and what not are just battle scars.
Honestly, I wouldn't worry about a case if I were you, just get a good accidental damage warranty. It will probably end up being about the same price as the case and screen protector depending on what you get, but worth soo much more. Moving to a new phone with droid is easy as well, most of your stuff will back up to google if you set it up to do so. Drop your phone and break it? Go get a new one, sync your data, and you are good to go again.

I'm thinking of getting an iphone to upgrade from a Blackberry Curve. I like carrying my music around, but my blackberry is a pain to change music on (as well in New York you get 2 points on your license if a cop catches you holding your phone while driving) and I like the idea of having voice control to pick music (at least in theory)
