Default The shop project

OK, so I finally decided to rebuild my shop. Going to be a big project, but it really needs to be done. As it is it'* simply to packed full and not enough room to move around.

Well, to start it off. My Christmas present was a new tool box. But it'* been back ordered. My wife stopped in Friday, nope, still don't have any. Well, today I needed to pick up some PCV pipe to do some plumbing in the basement. And I figure, what harm in looking. Nope, none on the shelf. No harm in asking. Any idea when your going to get that box? No, we have no idea. I said you know, I'll even take the display model. She said I'll take a look. Looks on the computer and says, hey, says here I have one sitting on a skid in back. Can I have it? You sure can. Yippy, I drive around the back to get loaded. They actually had 2, must have just come in. What luck.

OK, small problem, they loaded it with a forklift. No big deal, I have tools.

Just like Christmas.

That gives me 8 feet of tool box. Should cover me for a little while.

Need to pick up some 2x4 and build a new bench off to the right of where I have it now. The tool box will be going under the bench. I'm happy now.

Fits right in! Also reminds me I need to go get another tool box. Unfortunately it'* going to be a while before I have room for anything that big. I'm just picking up something to organize some wrenches and screw drivers in.

Are you going to extend the bench from where it is to cover over the tool boxes as well, or just building a new one?

A new bench is going to be built. It will start about the middle of the right most box, and go about 11 feet, perhaps 12 to the wall. Then round the corner and another 8 feet till it gets to my compressor. I want the center stall totally open.

Spent the morning cleaning up. Then started framing up the work bench. First I laid it out.

Framed in the first section.

Then framed in the other section.

That'* all I got so far today. Need to pick up the plywood for the top yet. Still need to get a few more braces here and there. Just not enough hours in the day.
