Default shaft on cluster

I had a friend put in a cluster overlay in his trailblazer and when he was removing the needles, he pulled two of the shafts out and he cant seem to get them to go after putting them back in. They just dont move at all and stay there. Is there a trick to this? or does anybody know what he can do to fix this? thanks
