Default Scanner purchase options?

I am thinking about purchusing a scanner. Read some threads from a while back and I am still not sure what my options are.

Guess I want it all. Want full features, prefer to be able to go aross GM, Ford and Jeep, and I don't want to spend big bucks.

I have a notebook computer- so if it can replace the scanner with just software and a plug, that would be my preference.

Any thoughts?

I was happy with it, but it lacks in the enhanced code area. I very nice basic scanner. Just not what I needed.

Just bought it via PayPal. Wanted something that gave information a little bit better than a cheap handheld.

We have one of those programmable thermastats at home, and it is a pain to program. Hoping a USB thermostat gets on the market soon like the notebook interface for the scnner.

Be sure to post up how the software works. I sold mine a few years back, I'm sure it'* a little better now.
