still would be better for my dad who lives in the middle of nowhere. He has a long range wireless setup right now for like 80 a month.

Yeah, their website says 49.99 is for 512K download speed. Looks like they are not doing any new service in my area anyway. I heard from our IT guy that Wildblue isn't doing anything in Michigan period.
I have seen one other main company with about the same pricing. I'll have to look into them.

What is the long range wireless? Who provides that?

I had satellite for two years, and would never go back to it, it was horrible! If you do ANY online gaming of any kind, you cannot do it with satellite. anytime you send/recieve data, there is a 1-2 second lag before anything happens. that means, if you were to click a link online, nothing would start loading until 1-2 seconds later because of how far the data has to go up/down. Also, with the company I had, Direcway, if you download anything more than 160 MB within a 5 hour time span, your connection is knocked down to around 10kbps. It'* so slow that you can't even load a webpage! My download speeds also were never over around 60kb/sec, and upload was 5kb/sec (same as freaking dialup!) All new satellite recievers, like the one I had, let the dish recieve AND send data. It was only a very long time ago that you had to use a phone line to send data, now it'* all done over the satellite. For $60 a month, it'* definately not worth it... Now, maybe if it were around $35, or $40....

They have the full sat version where you don't need a phone line for the uplink now.

Honestly, satellite internet is much better than it used to be. My parents just got it (I think their provider is Agristar, which might be a subsidiary of Direcway), and theirs is full satellite upload/download. The speed is much better than their old dialup, and if it'* your only option you might as well check it out.
