removing shifter

in the button of mine, there is an indention on the top and bottom of the button. that entire thing was filled, im taking like 1/4*1/2*3/4 full of the nastiest stuuf i've ever seen

I checked my T shifter today and it has the slot in the front. Thanks for the help.
