rant *now with instructions on how to take down headliner*

This is REDICULOUS!!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing on this car is coming apart without breaking. I've broke 3 clips already and all I have out is the trim off the pilars. What retard came up with the idea of using plastic clips. He should be locked in a room and forced to EAT plastic clips to stay alive. You know what, f*ck it. The headliner will just have to fall on somebody. This is rediculous.

Yes those clips are a PITA... It takes some patience ;)

13 Year old plastic becomes brittle..! Just take your time

ga93sle 05-13-2006 02:40 PM

I've taken my time, but I can't take anything in there apart without breaking it. Chris's instructions on how to take a headliner down:
A-pillar-
pull weatherstripping away from pillar
pull back on plastic
break clip
go into cussing fit
repeat other side

B-pillar-
pull weatherstripping away from pillar
pull back on plastic
realize someone b4 me has broken clip
go into cussing fit
carefully pull bottom of plastic off
repeat other side

C-pillar-
pull weatherstripping away from pillar
pull back on plastic
carefully pull off of bottom clip
scratch back window pulling out plastic
go into cussing fit
repeat other side

Pass front pull handle-
pry clips away from handle
firmly pull handle away from roof

Pass rear pull handle-
pull coat hanger off
pry clips away from handle
watch broken plastic fall from behind handle
go into cussing fit

Give up and put everything back together, breaking 2 more clips and scratching back window again.

I'm sure they probably do, but there is one obstacle stopping me, $$$. I'll just save up and take it into an upholstry shop. Then, if they break something, they replace it.

see Chris this is where a FSM comes in handy...i have taken my pillars off both A and C and not broken anything

banned3800 05-13-2006 03:37 PM

The florida heat has done a number on my OH S*** handles... I have replaced 2 of them already, and another has cracked...

If you have never taken the interior of these cars apart, a service manual would come in handy ;)

The A is the only one I broke. C came out pretty easy, but the end of it scratched my window. The B was already broken, both of them on the top.

You have to be careful, and have a clip remover..

like the door panel clip removers they have at autozone for $2.99
