Default Question about 86 honda accord lx-i

I have a friend who has a 86 honda accord with just under 300,000 miles on it. It'* his only mode of transportation. He has 2 problems with it. One is that his brake pedal is really really really stiff... and when i put my hand on the brake buster when the brakes are applied it shakes and makes a clunking noise. I'm assuming this is either the booster or the master cylinder. What do you guys think.

Also this one is just weird. When you turn on the car it runs ok for about 30 secs. then the car starts to drop power then rev back up. It goes from about 2000rpm to 1000 rpms then revs up agian to 2000, then drops back fast to 1000. You get the point. I have no ideas on this on. As always thanks for the help. I would go to one of those other honda forums, but in my experience you guys know a lot more than them. Thanks again for the help.

Does the master cylinder have brake fluid in it?

As far as the reving, try a full out tuneup on it, I mean 300k miles on a 86 Honda is going to be rough, except some distress

There was plenty of brake fluid in the resivaur. Hopefully i can get a better look at it tomarrow... it was night before i looked at it today. I drove it around a parking lot, and that thing is scary.

I agree. Probably the power booster. Can you get one from a local junk yard? Also check out the vacuum lines going to the booster. If they're cracked, replace them.

Also, could be the idle air control valve. if that'* failing it won't idle right.

There was no Accord Si

Alright, asked my brother, did a bit of Googling, and found out that the i in LX-i, EX-i, SE-i, or whatever the trim models could be, mean fuel injection.
