Default Please be nice to telemarketers...

i, being one myself, put up with a bunch of crap all day. one day, one guy really urked me. much to my suprise, i noticed that he had a las cruces phone number. told my neighbor about the whole thing, it turns out he knows the guy and where he works too. through the local phone book, i also regathered his phone number, and his address. so im debating as to whether or not to pay him a visit at work or not <works in public library>, just to simply request that he work on his people skills some.

just a friendly reminder from your local telemarketer,
be nice yet firm, and be sure you know what they are offering before you turn them down.
also, if you have to interrupt, be nice about it.

also, you know those pre-approved mortgage calls some people get? there is a way to slow down if not stop those. do it by calling 1-888-5-OPTOUT <567-8688>. knocked out calls to our house within weeks. each case is different though, but it did work with us.

THX Y'ALL!

I think what you are about to do would be considered STALKING, which i think is against the law. As a telemarketer you should be use to ppl yelling and cursing you out. I for one don't mind talking to telemarketers, but when i say no thanks i mean no thanks. We keep getting window places calling us, i've asked numerous times to take me off their call list but they don't, so now i let them go through their bit then ask them to come out for a estimate then tell them no thanks not interested. I know this seems extreme but they just don't listen. :?

I always get pissed because the telemarketers can't take no thanks for an answer.

My credit card company keeps calling me about insurance on my account if I become disabled. I always tell them I don't need it as I have a zero balance. They keep trying to sell me the insurance.

I get alot less phone calls using this:

www.donotcall.gov

I only have a home phone now, but when I get a cell phone it'* an immediate hang up for telemarketers. Those are MY minutes.

do a search on here for telemarketers. I posted one or twwo threads a while ago that clearly state my opinins on the calls. 15 calls a day pisses the hell out fo me, especially when it is the same numbers that keep calling and no one answers when I do piick up the phone. Needless to say, I just pick up the phone now and place it next to me. I don't even try to talk to them too much anymore.

I, personally, am as polite as possible to telemarketers. I know that they have a job to do, and I treat them as I would any other professional. I politely say "No, thank you. I'm really not interested",and ask them to please put me on their do-not-call list. If they persist beyond the first "No, thank you", however, I ask them for their company'* name, write it down, repeat my request to be put on their do-not-call list, say goodbye and hang up.
I keep a list of telemarket companies that have called. If I find one that is a repeat caller, I file a complaint. And yes I am on the National Do-Not-Call List, but I only report repeat offenders.

rjolly, the thing you have to remember here, is that you are calling people that have not solicited your company'* service. Probably 95% of them don't want what you're offering, or, if it'* a survey, simply don't wish to have thier time taken up. You may be interrupting them during some important task, or during a show they really want to see.

You are imposing on their time, and they do have the right to ask you not to. I agree that people should at least try to be polite about it, but you should also try to understand why they are upset.

BTW, I definitely agree with garlandchaos about telemarketers and my cell phone. There needs to be some kind of legal restriction against telemarketing calls to cell phones. At home, it'* just a nuisance, but I lose minutes when they call my cell phone, and that is not something I will be polite about.

I'm starting to get telemarketer calls on my cell phone, which makes me mad because I only gave it out to anyone besides friends when I was applying for jobs. So much for confidentiality policy!

I am always as polite as possible with telemarketers, but sometimes they just don't give up. I've said "no thank you, please take us off your calling list, but have a good day. Goodbye." and had them CALL BACK. I work 4pm-midnight most nights, so after unwinding, I get to bed around two or three in the morning...call me at 8am, and I'm gonna be MORE than a little cranky.

I also get calls from a bill collection agency for someone named Sheniqua on my CELL PHONE. I've had the same number for more than two years

Again, you have to remember that these people aren't asking you to interrupt their dinners, family meetings, breakfasts, lunches, work, and lives...you're bound to run into a few rude ones. Every job has its bad point, and that'* yours. Not all of humanity is gonna be polite ALL the time, especially when they feel pestered. I'm sorry we're not ALL nice...but just remember that it'* not your fault and has NOTHING to do with you personally.

i wasnt seriously considering going down there for that. but never the less, there are some people intent on making me mad <like going out of their way to mess with my head>, which messes it up for everyone else. kinda frustrating if you ask me. but dont worry guys, first chance i get, im out. mcdonalds is starting to look pretty good right about now.

I try to be polite to telemarketers. Several years ago I worked that type of job for about 3 days and quit quickly!!! I hated it.

I like caller id and if it isn't a number I know I don't answer.
