Alright, the problem has been addressed. Swapped in my buddy'* MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU board a few days ago, then wiped my hard drive clean and started fresh. Running much better now.

Interesting note: The BSoDs were caused not by my hard drive or mobo, but by two sticks of his RAM we put in the system. We thought they were good, and they turned out to be crap. So I don't think it was necessary to swap my board out (though at least four of my capacitors look swollen/leaky). Still, I won't be going back to my board because of the capacitors, and because even at 4x AGP I'm benchmarking just as well as the old board, processor, and hard drive setup.

New question: When I install Nvidia NTune on this machine to overclock the video card, it doesn't retrieve the proper system information from the motherboard. Fuzzy Logic has the same problem, and because of it the GPU clock frequencies are not reported, meaning I can't change the clock frequencies. Any idea why this would be? Here'* a screenshot of the system information within NTune for reference.

Latest bios is 5.7, you need Fuzzy Logic 4 (not 3) and I thought Ntune was for Nforce boards. I see it now offers basic support for all motherbds basically allowing you to check the temp and overclock the gpu.

Have you tried resetting the mobo bios back to default settings?

I was using Fuzzy Logic 4... no dice. It lists GPU frequencies as "N/A", just like the screenshot from NTune shows no clock frequencies. I'll have to check some BIOS settings, but I'm perplexed as to why it'* not reporting mobo stats, PCI clock, AGP clock, etc. I used the Nvidia overclocking utilities with my old mobo and they worked well. Not sure what'* going on here.

I'll look at the BIOS again...

The Ntunes was actually written for the Nforce chipset, which this board isn't. The only recently added the overclocking ability for all (so they say) other mobo'*. I haven't used it since version 2 or 3 so I'm not sure when they made ths change.

As for Fuzzy Logic, that one is a stumper. I'd make sure the bios was at the latest version and reset to defaults. How sure are you of the mobo model?

The guy who gave me the mobo built it himself, so I have no doubt he told me the correct model. I'll use the MSI Live Update and get the latest and greatest drivers, BIOS, etc. and see if it helps.
