Well I tried to kill myself while baking today!!! I was making PDad an UpsideDown Peach cake (with fresh peaches) and I had everything ready, the butter was melted, the brown sugar was mixed in, and I was putting the final peaches into the pan when suddenly.......THE PAN EXPLODES!!!!! Not cracks, not falls from the countertop, but EXPLODES!!!!!! I am very lucky that none of the shards of glass went through me because I was standing right in front of it when it happened. One piece did go into my foot, and I got the bleeding under control, and I am fine. But after I got my heart restarted and realized that I was okay, I called PDad at work to inform him not to expect an UpsideDown cake when he got home from work lol.

Glad you're almost ok. I had a similar experience recently when the bottom of a cookie sheet warped suddenly, popped real loud, and scared the bejeezus outta me. But nothing blew up, so you were probably more frightened than me.

Wow, see that is just one more reason why I don't cook I am glad you weren't hurt worse. Did you preheat the pan or something? Or was the pan cool and you were adding warm ingredients? I am curious to know how that could happen.

I have no idea what happened....the peaches were at room temp, the pan was not hot, it was warm because of the melted butter, there were no cracks in the pan, it was just plain werid!!! My heart is slowly coming back to normal. My friend wanted to come over and make sure I was okay, I told her I was fine, but I think she is still a bit worried, she has called a couple of times to make sure I am not lying in a pool of blood...the cut on my foot is not that bad!!!! Thanks all, I did break down and make PDad an Upsidedown cake....I know it is his favourite!!!

wow, glad you wern't hurt any more! Did anything break that was around the pan?!

How blonde do you think I am!!!! The burner was not on, the pan was not even on the stove....it was on the counter where I was placing the room temp peaches!!!! I have made this cake a dozen times....never once has anything like this happened!!!
