When Jeff got his money I invested it. He only had to pay taxes on the interest earned but not on the actual money. It wasn't a great amount but it was enough to cover his braces, rebuilding his dad'* old pickup, college, and other odds and ends.

Probably a difference between actual inheritance, and insurance money tho....
